On the surface our Governor looks like a concerned humanitarian, however I get a sneaky feeling that the large drug company ( I think it’s Merk or Pfizer) producing the new vaccine gets prime dollar for the first 7 years, in order to recoup research costs. Rick Perry is also preparing to leave office…I wonder if he might have something lined up in another field….say, pharmaceuticals? It would have been nice if we discussed this issue before he issued an executive order from Austin.

I think that he’s totally out of line. It’s a glaring example of the power TENS OF THOUSANDS of highly-paid industry lobbyists in this country have over our politicians’ votes and therefore our lives.

Idealists, environmentalists, health care reformers, etc. volunteer or work for low pay. It’s always an uphill battle against/or to reach compromise with business interests $$$ to influence our elected officials who represent us.

Every household should have the name, address, phone # and e-mail of their local, state and federal representatives taped up somewhere. It’s often in the newspaper, available at the library, or call the League of Women Voters. 5 minutes to communicate ONE SENTENCE does it. It makes SOME difference. I’ve gotten form letters back, so they do take note how opinion is running among the constituency. Whether they do anything about it or not……….there’s always next election to boot them out. Hopefully.
